“The Salamander” is a 4 part series that explores the true-crime saga of the most prolific forger in modern history: Mark Hofmann. An unassuming genius, his sophisticated forgeries eluded the FBI and swindled collectors out of millions, while rewriting American history, shaking the foundations of the Mormon Church, and ultimately leading to the 1985 bombings that left two people dead. Eventually, a small-town check authenticator would defy the world’s top forensic experts and expose Hofmann’s crimes. Directed by Napolean Dynamite director Jared Hess and produced for Netflix/BBC.
